Mumbai: For DarkGreen Adventures, the journey from trekking trails in the Sahyadris to planning expeditions across the Antarctic Peninsula reflects more than a decade of evolution in adventure travel. Founded in December 2014 by Krishna Kuya, the Mumbai-based company is now expanding its international expedition portfolio with Antarctica with their new Antarctica Tour Package from India, bringing one of the world’s most remote destinations closer to Indian travellers seeking experiences beyond conventional holidays.
Krishna’s journey into travel began long before the company itself. An MTech in Energy Engineering, he left his corporate career to pursue his interest in trekking, outdoor exploration and group travel. With more than 15 years of trekking and outdoor experience, he gradually developed DarkGreen Adventures from a trekking-focused initiative into an experiential travel company offering domestic journeys, international group trips, adventure experiences and corporate outdoor programmes.
Building Beyond Conventional Travel
Over the years, DarkGreen Adventures has focused on self-curated journeys rather than standard sightseeing packages. Its international travel portfolio has expanded across destinations in Asia, Europe, Africa and other regions, with itineraries designed around experiences, local exploration and group travel.
The company manages different stages of a journey, including itinerary planning, accommodation, transportation and destination coordination. Safety and comfort, particularly for women travellers, have remained important considerations as its groups increasingly include people from different age groups and travel backgrounds.
For Krishna, this transition has also meant taking the experience developed on trekking trails and applying it to more complex international journeys.
Antarctica Marks the Next Chapter
The company’s move into Antarctica expedition travel marks a significant step in that evolution. The journey requires coordination across international flights, accommodation, internal travel, expedition cruising and destination logistics before travellers finally reach the Antarctic Peninsula.
For Indian professionals who are increasingly looking beyond traditional international destinations, Antarctica represents a very different kind of travel experience, one centred on exploration, remoteness, wildlife and the scale of the natural environment, all through their new Antarctica tour package.Â
Taking Experiential Travel Further
DarkGreen Adventures’ expansion into Antarctica reflects its broader approach to adventure and experiential travel. The company continues to focus on small-group journeys, responsible travel practices and thoughtfully planned itineraries while exploring destinations that are less conventional for Indian travellers.
From weekends in the Sahyadris to international journeys and now the polar region, the company’s growth has remained connected to the idea that meaningful travel can begin where familiar itineraries end.
